FROM CONCEPT TO CUP: EXPERT GUIDANCE TO BUILD A SUCCESSFUL COFFEE SHOP
Jim spent the majority of his three decades in financial services building a dynamic and distinguished career with Goldman Sachs & Co. Within the Equities Trading Division, Jim served as a Managing Director, collaborating closely with clients to help them achieve their financing, investment, and strategic objectives.
In addition to managing numerous high-profile client relationships, Jim played a critical leadership role in elevating his team to both industry and international recognition. Throughout his career, he mentored and coached junior and peer colleagues, many of whom went on to achieve prominent success in their own fields.
A proud alumnus of St. Peter’s University in Jersey City, Jim’s passion for education and community led him to serve on the University’s Board of Trustees. He also volunteers his time working with the campus Career Center, mentoring students and helping them secure meaningful opportunities in the global workforce.
Jim’s belief in the power of education and its ability to instill confidence and practical capability naturally guided him into his work with the New Jersey Coffee School. Through NJCS, Jim has taken his decades of leadership, training experience, and strategic problem-solving and applied them to the coffee industry. At the school, he works closely with aspiring café owners, baristas, and entrepreneurs, providing guidance on operations, business planning, workflow design, guest experience, and overall café profitability. His work included contributing to a Princeton University project that used the coffee school as a case study in café operations and business development.
This experience has positioned Jim to transition seamlessly into consulting for cafés and coffee-focused businesses. Drawing on both his corporate management background and his real-world immersion in café education, Jim provides a unique blend of operational insight, coaching expertise, and business acumen to help coffee ventures scale, improve efficiencies, and thrive in competitive markets.
In his spare time, Jim enjoys preparing and sharing great meals with friends and family, reading widely, and any activity involving a bicycle with full respect to Velominati Rule 2.
